I have unsubscribed from the LaRue organization and placed the following in the comment box.

While you make a fine weapon, it is irrelevant if follow up support is not available. I purchased an OBR 7.62 approximately 18 months ago and needed a new barrel to extend to 20 inches. I have called your sales department several times over the past year and had even wrote a letter to Mr. LaRue. Sales agents indicated there is nothing they can do and no response at all from Mr. LaRue. I get emails all the time about how you have increased production, decrease wait times and to buy new product. Why would I get involved with a vendor again when I cannot get support for an already purchased product? Fortunately the high end AR Market does not lack for vendors who sell high end products followed by high end support.

So I asked JW to dig up my shortcomings that initiated the correspondence above ...

I have attached the letter that he sent dated May of 2014:
I showed it to you last year and it was still in your office.
He bought a 16” OBR second hand, and wanted us to change it to a 20” barrel.

If he has a second hand rifle, it doesn't sound like he's ever been involved with LT as a vendor.   If the barrel he has (second hand)  is 16 inches, and he simply wants to extend it out to 20 inches, why can't you keep the customer happy and send him a 4 inch extension.   I'd probably send him a nice ML worded letter along with his extension, you know....because it's always about pleasing the customer.

I don't think it's possible to make everyone happy, but I think you guys come pretty damn close, especially when the customer relates his or her request in a manner not consistent with that of an asshat.  Keep up the great work.

Send me 4" of barrel and send him a shipping label to my house.  I'll lay a nice bead on there and ship it back to him on my dime

Some people are just a bit out of touch with reality.

Why wait a year in between e-mails? If he had kept up to date with things, he would have seen the release of the barrels on the site.

As someone else had stated, being that he wasn't even the original owner of the rifle, he didn't really deal directly with you. And ironically even if he WAS the OO, he would have had the same response as barrels simply weren't available at that time.

You know what they say. You can't fix stupid. At least he made a good decision buying LaRue though.

Send him a 4" section of barrel that is threaded.  He can then couple them together.

Rifling doesn't need to line up or he can shim it to time the rifling....

I don't see why this customer is upset.

1. Purchased a 16" OBR not a 20" OBR
2. Support is typically for defects or issues that cannot be resolved by the end user

If he wanted a 20" barrel he should have purchased said barrel instead of a 16" barrel. He is not in need of support as there is nothing wrong with the 16" OBR, he is looking for an enhancement to the current rifle. That is not a support issue.
In addition, barrels just became available with more options to come.

Overall, just a cry baby with his panties in a wad

4 inches may not be very intimidating, but it'll do a lot of damage at 2800 feet per second

Meh. You could charge $10 for a rifle and some people would complain. Nature of retail business.

If the dude wanted to swap barrels there's another platform that specifically specializes in that.

How is this Larues fault? It's the customers fault for buying something that didn't fit his needs.

Edit: speaking of barrels.....Mr Larue. Any chance for a 14.5" 7.62 Pred barrel?

I also wanted a longer barrel for my tOBR since you can quickly swap between them, but I did not whine or cry about the answer I was given back in January like this guy did.

It's been a helluva day ...

When the Team Mail went out, one of the recipients typed out this long diatribe of how clucking stupid I am, then accidently sent it back to the shop, instead of his intended recipient.  Oh baby, it was a doozy and no I won't post that one.
