That "colt" in a pentagon is hardly the proper rampant colt logo. However. A simple search brings up at least one reference to coltczgroup dot com. Appears this is part of the CZ group, Sellier & Bellot, Dan Wesson, Etc. Czech Republic. Not Euro-trash. Eastern Bloc. Used to work at a gunshop that carried IJK optics. Those are also made in Czechoslovakia. Good Ceech glass/coatings. Any photobug'll tell you coatings are the key. They also make night vision/thermal. Budget stuff. Not for you high-falutin' Arfcommers.....LMAO... But they definitely know how to make gun stuff.... |

First three consumer products announced: 1-8x28, 3-18x44, and 4.5-27x56, all 34mm and FFP with Schott glass. The first two are supposed to be available in the "next few weeks". https://coltoptics.com/colt-optics-launches-vmr-series-riflescope/ Honestly, I half expected them to only produce mil contract optics so this is a good start. |

Colt Optics is a standalone company that is part of the Colt CZ Group. The products are OEM products and are not rebranded items from other OEM's. I will be buying the 1-8 optic when it hits the market. I talked to one of the company reps at Shot Show. Their primary focus is the U.S. commercial market. Obviously they would love to get some government contracts but they aren't building their company on the hopes of government business. Lastly, Colt Optics has a couple of production positions open in Michigan where they are located. Attached File |

Some interesting new products: T2-footprint red dot 3x magnifier; looks like it might work with Eotech mounts but not sure. Acro-footprint pistol dot Also a LAM that is supposed to be to be a close clone of the Brolis LP5X. I've never heard if it before but Brolis is a Lithuanian company with a few military contracts. No civilian version unfortunately. The rifle dot is advertised at 8 oz, which hopefully includes the mount; otherwise that's kinda heavy. Light transmission is advertised at 92% while Aimpoint advertises 70% for the T2, though who knows if those numbers are directly comparable. Window size is 32x32mm (T2 has an 18mm lens and the EXPS3 is 30x23mm) so in theory this could be pretty good for night vision. I like that it has an option for a 1.5 MOA dot. Attached File Magnifier specs (I didn't see an advertised exit pupil):
Again, take everything with a grain of salt because advertised specs are far from everything, but it seems like they're not phoning it in. |
