| I am on my 3rd one now and none of them will lock the bolt back on an empty magazine. It's a PredatAR using all new mags of various manufacturers. I posted several weeks ago and got recommendations. I tried the Troy lever and the Phase 5 Tactical lever. The Phase 5 locked the bolt back only once out of a dozen mag changes. I don't know what else to do but go back to the original setup. Any help will be appreciated. |
| I have a BAD lever on my M&P but a Phase 5 on the Larue I built. Had the same problem intermittently. After much troubleshooting and buffer experimentation, I ended up talking to someone in Tech Support at Larue. Based on his recommendation, I installed an empty mag, placed the butt stock on a bench, and pulled back the charging handle. The first three times, it worked as advertised. The fourth time, the bolt didnt lock back. That is when I realized that the Phase 5 lever was not returning consistently to the proper position. I found an extensive write up on the problem on SigForum. It theorized that the normal spring was not designed for the extra mass of the Phase 5 or BAD lever. That person experimented with trimming off a coil or two from that spring. I sent an email to Phase 5 on this. The president of the company called me and left a message that he could help but subsequent attempts to contact him have been unsuccessful. I will try to find that post on SigForum and post a link if I can find it. |

Having seen battery assist levers on high speed video, no way would I use one no matter how much faster I can load a round. What happened? They basically bouce around. The added mass at the end of the lever keeps the lever moving too long and makes it a crap shoot to return consistantly into place. There's enough clearance typically that the lever "pretty much works", but its not truely repeatable. This is just from watching one-piece levers too. The "add on" like the magpul would experience increased movement. |

I've been running a BAD lever on my tAR for over a year now and not a single hiccup yet. Which one please? Which one what? BAD lever? MAGPUL BAD Lever is what I use. No problems here. I know two other tAR owners with the same BAD lever and same results...no problems. |
