I'm new to the BCM charging handle and to the world of one-handed charging. I just finished my build a week and a half ago and have been trying to get acustomed to using the charging handle in the way it was designed to be used. Today I was messing around with my rifle and noticed that the charging handle seems to be getting the shit chewed out of it by the upper. I took a really shitty picture of it so that folks could see what is happening. Basically, in case anyone doesn't understand the picture, the top and bottom corners of the charging handle that reside on the opposite side from the Mod 4 latch have no finish left on them and seem to be getting ground off by the upper receiver. In case it matters, the upper is an Umbrella HUUCR. Can anyone (BCM especially) tell me if this is normal or not? Am I doing something wrong?

Charging handle is looking dry....

I'd lube it up and test her out.

But I will say, take a light and check the receiver out. I had a VLTOR mur-1a sent to me with a huge burr inside the upper that destroyed my charging handle. Vltor told me to send both the charging handle and upper in and they noticed the defect and sent me a new one. Worth a shot to look..

You also have to realize, some wear is normal...

Looks pretty normal to me.

Underneath the soot and oil on one of mine I just checked, it's got wear on that side too.

Same thing on my mur, but it worked itself out after my mod4 was all scratched up.
Also to the OP, like hayden and VIP3R say, it looks normal.

Ok, thanks guys. I'll take it apart and look at it and get some lube on it. It is definitely dry. I wasn't thinking about that.

Very normal, and that actually helps make it more slick so its easier to use, and yes lube it.
