Guys, first of all...I have a lot of different Larue products and I love the stuff.
I just bought a Larue BUIS and I'm having a bit of a problem. I happened to try this for the first time on a brand new upper. What I found was that it was requiring a lot more elevation adjustment than I expected. It was still shooting way high when I gave up...I figured I'd try other sights to see if they're ok. BTW, this upper does have an f marked FSB. So I tried a couple other sights, and all seems well with the upper. It zeros at 50 yds with the shoulder of the sight post about flush in the FSB. I also tried the Larue on another upper, and it shot *way* high as it did on the first upper...8" higher at 50 yds. I put the Larue back on the first upper and proceeded to zero it at 50 yds. Using the large aperture, I end up with the front sight almost 3.5 turns out from having the shoulder flush in the FSB (which happens to be where my other sights zero). The top of the sight post is of course sticking out past the ears on the FSB. The question is...is this normal with this sight? |

Not normal. If you don't mind me asking, where did you pickup the sight? What other sights have you tried? (that worked for you) MF I don't mind at all. It came from GTS. I've tried a Troy, a YHM, and a carry handle. This is about the strangest thing I've seen, there are only so many variables here. I tried to measure the height of the different sights over the rail surface. Using regular calipers, it's hard to do accurately, but it does seem that the Larue sight is taller than the others (aperture to rail). |
