I am about to drop the hammer on an order for some barrel work.

I have a Rock River 16" Midlength HEAVY barrel. I want it to have a government profile under the HG. Will a government profile on that area keep the barrel no wider than .750? Or will the barrel be turned down all the way from the .925 leaving a bulge right before the gas block area?

Also, on a government profiled barrel, at the slimmest part, what size is that? .625 or .750?

it steps up to the .750 gas area. Dont worry. Just select the contour under the handguards order and we'll do the standard reduction and I'm sure you'll be amazed at how much better the carbine will feel.

Under the HG will taper, from the end of the chamber, down to around .625, then taper up a short distance to the .750 gas block.  As bigbore says, it will make it balance a ton better, as well as a lot lighter.

Got my16" mid-length done a couple of weeks ago.(computer crashed couldnt post sooner) Nice work and I got it back in days,
BUT I CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY the barrel only got reprofiled for 7" instead of the full 9" out to the fsb!
It left a long chunk of heavier barrel right behind the front sight that doesn't feel like it balances as it would have.
