im not even sure that all those are FN.

I know the CHF are FN's.

heavy barrel is the profile under the handguard. not tapered/fluted down. its constant dimater all the way through.

premium, is a psa designation for a top line barrel, but doesnt necessarily designate as being a CHF.

I think I get it. Reason I ask is I see there is a premium carbine length upper assembly, a carbine length upper with a CHF barrel, and a mid length upper with heavy profile barrel all for the same price. All barrels are listed as FN barrels. I'm not sure which one I want (I can't afford all three).

Premium and CHF are both FN made barrels.

Heavy barrel just means it's the heavy profile rather than the notched M4 profile

Get the CHF barrel 1st, then the premium marked ones. I've got the 16" CHF barreled one here now that I've had since 2012 and its a tack driver. I like it so much I ordered a 2nd one this current sale.....its the same price as the current premium 16" on sale

this is the logic i'd go with.  If the option is there, i want the CHF.  Its the best of the best.

How does the basic non FN barrel compare? The blem upper with bcg and charging handle for $349 is very tempting.

Good, better, and best is the rating system I use. the non-CHF FN barrel would be the "better" option.  CHF, in theory, is more durable for high round count and extended rapid-fire utility.  Some speculate that they are more accurate.  I have both and can't see a noticeable difference in accuracy.  They both exhibit excellent accuracy for me.   Is the juice worth the squeeze? For the price difference I would say yes to the CHF.
