I'm thinking of sending my LMT MRP barrel in for dimpling. My question is does the gas block need to be removed for this process (something I'm not capable of or willing to do myself so I would include the disassembly/assembly service)?

Also does the barrel need to be refinished after the dimples are applied? Do you guy's reparkerize the barrel or should I have it KG Koated?

Thank you.

removing the gasblock is included in the price as is reparking.

But please remove the gas tube. 8 out of 10 MRP barrels with the gas tube attached are either sticking out of the box, or bent upon arrival.

Excuse my ignorance but can lite weight barrels be dimpled or does it have to be Gov profile? Thanks

can be done, but the dimples would be so shallow there would be almost no point to it.

I just bought a Noveske 16" middy Recon barrel.  Any idea how much weight is removed by dimpling in front of the FSB?

Do you remove more weight with fluting than dimpling?

The weight loss between Dimpling and Flutting is negligible. And, although some weight is reduced, they are both more aesthetic than practical, for weight reduction. If you want real weight reduction, you need contouring to a smaller profile.

Probably not looking at more than 2 or 3 ozs, dimpling fwd of the gas block, i'm guessing.
