Well, my first AR and it should get shipped out to me today or Monday...

I will put a LMT SOPMOD onto it to replace the Colt stock and a MaTech Rear Flip up sight since it does not come with one, I can get these from a buddy of mine that has tons of parts. Also he has an Aimpoint M2 I will buy from him.

Is there a way to put a Vertical grip onto the round Hand Guard? I have one already that has Bi Pod in it that pops out when you push a button on the grip. It is a Picatinny mount type.

If not, then I will buy a quad rail, I think Troy makes them at decent prices.

Pretty excited about the new purchase....

Congratulations!  6920s are excellent carbines and you can't go wrong with a Colt.

Yea those little suckers generally work well.

OP if you decide on a rail KAC sells M4 RAS seconds for 150 bucks on their site. Somewhere on here the kac rep said most of them had the left and right markers lasered on backwards or something. Couldn't tell you what made mine a second but it looks fine. All of them are seconds for cosmetic reasons only. Figured mine would have rail covers on it so even if it was a little messed up who cares?

Yep,
Bolts on through holes in the bottom of the handguard. Will have a bit of flex, so if you want a sturdy set-up....gonna need a railed handguard. Used Knights rails can be had on EE for cheap if you look around

yes there're.
Im quite sure you'll also need to remove the heat shield inside the handguards to install the rails.
it will take you 5 minutes

NEWB question, do I need free float or not?

10/22/2010 9:23:56 AM EDT
[#8]
no you dont NEED to freefloat it.
you can get really nice groups even with a stock rifle/carbine if you do your part

what you really NEED are mags & ammo

i would not free float it

and i would buy a KAC  M4 RAS  for any additions,   i dont think attaching to the  norma HGs is a good idea,   you can get a RAS  new from KAC for 150  or even less on the EE here

I bought my 6920 about a year ago, love it. All I've added is an eotech and blue force sling. One thing I found out is it doesn't like steel case ammo, brass only.

Be sure and post pics!  6920's are great rifles.

Congrats! I got mine a year and a half ago and kept it as is. It's my favorite AR!

If you are going to get a rail for it I would look at the Daniel Defense Omega.  Pricey?  Yes.  But it's so low profile and absolutely solid.

My 6920 will arrive on Monday, but I wonder which length rail replaces the factory hand guard?

I only want a rail long enough to go between the front sight and the locking ring

Is it 7" or 9"

Awesome. I've wanted a 6920 since I was 13 years old. That'll be my next AR most likely. Unfortunately, that'll be a very long time from now.

Colt arrived today, wow I feel like a new father! Anyway, the last pic is with the Flip up rear sight, Aimpoint M2 and the LMT/ SOPMOD and Hogue Grip,, the DD Omega Rail is on its way as is 6 new Pmags and a Voodoo Tactical Gun bag.

Got it from Country Wide Shooter in El Paso, excellent price, excellent response.

Very nice!

In case you're curious, you can find out when your new pony was built by looking at the date stamp on the plastic "birth bag":

Would you mind sharing the serial number range?  ETA: Nevermind, I see it's in the 50,000 range.  That being the case, can you tell if it has a small pin lower?

I've a curiousity about small pin lowers is all.

Congrats BTW, can't get much better.
