I found a upper in 7.62x39 that is marked on the side "Colt 5.56" at a gun store. I don't know if this is an actual Colt upper. If it is, will it fit a Bushmaster lower?

It will fit with the purchase of a 3 dollar part. You will need a front pin adapter to go from a large hole upper to a correct small hole lower.

I just bought a 7.62 Colt upper and installed it on a Bushy lower......It seems to fit perfectly.....so does that mean that mine is a Small pin upper......or will a large pin upper fit but not correctly?????? I'm confused and puzzled.....

Measure the front hole on the upper. If you have a large hole upper, and a small hole lower they will go toghter, just not right.

What I did do.......I had a spare front pin and it fit perfectly in the upper.....no play at all....so I guess it's a small pin upper....

Then you have a small pin upper.
Now I wonder if it is a Colt upper, not that it matters.

The upper has the correct Colt marks......But how do I know if it was the original upper for that barrel .....????? Oh well another of life's mysteries
