I am in the market for a red dot. Needless to say I have looked at some cheap clones, Aimpoint, EOTech and also Primary Arms. All have a huge following, but it seems like the Primary Arms optics are incredibly great quality for the cost(from what I read online).

I need an red red to mount on a PSA 14.5 midlength AR15, that will be my primary defensive rifle. I plan on shooting it a lot! The Primary Arms optics are sounding very inviting, but I am torn between the Micro red dot, and the M4, but I am leaning towards the M4 from the great things I hear.

My question is will they hold zero for thousands of rounds and some abuse? How much ammo have you guys been able to put down the pipe and the PA optic still hold zero? And what optic would you recommend and why? Either the M4 or the micro?

And Marshall, when are the M4 optics expected to arrive?

I'm done!

Thanks in advance guys!

M4 style is no more. The replacement AA powered red dot will not be here until April

All will handle recoil and hold zero but the Micro Dot has a higher shock rating for general abuse.

That said for your primary defensive rifle I would recommend EOTech or AImpoint. IMHO ours are the best bargain dots out there but when you use a term like primary defensive rife that calls for a different caliber of optic or irons.

I appreciate your honesty very much.

For a non company view, +1 on holding zero, I have a variety of PA optics and all hold zero just fine. I have two of them on LaRue mounts, zeroed for the same rifle, and regular pop them on and off. Between the two potential sight related issues for my zero I have too little change to detect. The slight changes between batches of accurate handloads makes a bigger difference even over 1k+ rounds and dozens of on/off the rifle cycles. My total round count on those two, a microdot and a 1-4x, has to be around 3k or so each, plus a lot of 22LR.

Yeah they hold zero.

I own two. No issues at all. Both are micros.

This is good to hear. I think I will buy a Micro dot and use that until the funds for the Aimpoint T1 are available(which could be a couple months).

Thanks guys!

I do a lpt of testing for various company's. I have an Aimpoint clone and a Micro dot from PA. Both have been great optics for me.
Marshall is up front about expectations.
But I have yet to break one of his optics. I did recently manage to break the illumination knob off of my real Aimpoint recently
