I am interested in purchasing a Colt bolt and carrier. The bolt will be a spare, and the carrier to replace the original which came with my LE6920. The original carrier does not shroud the firing pin and I am having problems with bent retaining pins. These are the options from SAW: SA05010 BOLT GROUP, SELECT FIRE, M16 (1965-PRESENT) 279.00 SA05009 BOLT GROUP, SEMI, L/E W/ M16 COCKING ANGLE & PROTECTED FIRING PIN (1998-2001) 199.00 SA05011 BOLT GROUP, SEMI, SP1 (1967-1990) 199.00 SA05008 BOLT GROUP, SEMI, SPORTER (1991-1997, 2002-PRESENT) 179.00 Is the SA05010 the carrier (with bolt) that is currently shipping with LE6920s? Does it have the shrouded firing pin? Does it have a long closed end which adds weight and some believe increases reliability by slowing down cycling? Does the SA05009 have a closed or open (half-moon) end? I assume from its SAW description that it shrouds the firing pin. Thanks for your help. |

I bought a brand new Colt M16 BCG with the shrouded firing pin from Jim of Police Supply (they're industry partners) at the Equipment Exchange for about $175 plus shipping. ar15inmn, thanks for the info. I thought that I had it right, but I didn't want to order the wrong carrier. Alpha-romeo3, the carrier replacement is FOR a rifle I bought from Jim. I never thought to contact him about a bolt group. Since he is significantly cheaper than SAW, I appreciate the input. |
