| Per a phone conversation with Griffin Armament, I’m making this post for some clarity. I’m considering a few different cans, with the DL HRT 5K AM and the SureFire Mini4 at the top. However, it seems the recommended MD for the HRT is the EZ Brake, mainly because it is the peak performer for the can and acts as a sacrificial baffle. There is little to no data on the use of other muzzle devices. I and others either require or prefer a flash hider instead of the brake. Will the Minimalist Flash Suppressor perform just as well as the EZ Brake in regard to flash performance at night or under night vision with the HRT 5K AM? Is the performance of the Minimalist Flash Suppressor decent compared to the SureFire 3-prong as a standalone muzzle device for flash suppression? Hoping to get Austin Green’s (Green0) attention so he can answer these questions for us. |

I think the loss of some muzzle sound performance is what happens running a flash suppressor. So the can is not as amazing if you run a flash hider. Our flash suppressors are performing devices, but only the minimalist flash suppressor fits the HRT5K |

| I haven't run the combo that way to know. Sorry about that. I do know peak sound comes up ~5DB muzzle, and 2 at the ear. I didn't shoot that combo for flash to understand that impact. I think the reality might be +40% first round and then negligible difference. That's a guess. The issue of flash suppressors is they shoot laminar gas forward like a pencil. This misses baffles in a suppressor and hurts the performance of suppressors, unless the baffle bore of the suppressor is quite tight, and then the suppressor doesn't have great freedom from strikes. |
