I have always seen the Colt Bolt come with the Crane O ring and the insert on the extractor spring. My newest Colt IAR BCG had no O ring on the spring just the insert. The first range trip was flawless and on my cleaning and inspection of the rifle found the missing O ring. I placed an O ring on and had no issues on my next trip but I'm now unsure what the current setup is on Colt rifles since the whole Crane O ring scheme seems like there is no clear information on what the current setup is. Opinions please. |

Do you have any references for these specs?? Why the change? 5 coil vs 4 coil? asking for facts. I know there are different specs depending on barrel length so lets see the reference. Archived data here is equally unclear. PS; my newest BCG the "copper" spring isn't there it's black and I see the copper washed O ring is discontinued, which leaves more questions to the equation......... |

The O-ring was a bandaid fix to improve extraction. The improved extractor spring (gold/copper) rendered it unneeded. The new spring and the O-ring in combination will likely result in excessive extractor tension. |

your graphic is 18yrs. old, but I'm seeing several parts dealers quoting the copper washed spring is discontinued. However many manufacturers still use the O ring mostly in 10.3/10.5 and 11.5 But example is Geissele and Knights still do in short and 16" But the concensus here is Colt does not use it. thanks....... |
