I have a factory Colt SOCOM upper that I listed for sale and have had numerous inquiries and questions regarding how it was marked. So my question is what is the preferred or most desirable markings. It seems that not all of them are created equal that were made this last year. Isn’t a Colt still a Colt? Questions regarding the following. Cage code marked upper vs just forge mark Upper forge, Square, Keyhole, etc Barrel manufacture O and R, O and I , date code or no date code. Thanks guys |

The most desirable markings are C stamped uppers and barrels. And bonus points for barrels that have the MP touching each other instead of the more typical way where it's just spelled out as separate letters. For example, notice how the M and P share the same line? Attached File |

I would not pay more for a Colt non-C or cage code marked upper than the going rate for an upper from any other reputable company. My personal order of desirability: AF, Keyhole, square. All C marked of course. Barrel date codes and C MP marked are nice. I don't know much about the other markings to be honest. |
