I am thinking about picking up a Colt 6920 SOCOM. It's pretty much identical to my issue rifle at work. I have a couple of questions though. Are the takedown and trigger/hammer pins standard diameter, or are they the odd Colt only sizes? Also, is there a sear block pinned into the receiver?

They haven't done any of that for years. The trigger/hammer pins have been standard size for about 3 years, and the pinned sear block and large takedown pin have been gone for at least 10 years, maybe more. They currently have a machined sear block that is part of the lower forging, but it does not stick above the rest of the lower and it allows use of aftermarket triggers and full auto carriers (it comes with a full auto carrier). Rest assured, all Colt quirks are gone across the model line up. You should get the SOCOM

Here are a few pics that I posted before.  I have been trying to get out, and shoot it next to my LE6920 to compare accuracy per request by another Arfcommer, but working 60 hours a week, and the 100* degree weather have kind of put a hamper on that...
