I am looking at a newer 6940 Colt lower and I noticed the ovals that are usually left over by the selector are gone. It looks perfectly smooth on each side of the selector. Does anyone know if Colt is grinding them all the way down now?

Thanks!

I don't think it is on just the 6940 receivers.
I have seen a 6940 that has the bumps in the 67xxx range and a 6920 in the 70xxx range without  the bumps and a 6920 in the 73xxx range with the bumps.

I'm not aware of this yet. Mind taking some pictures and posting them here?

Thanks!

I just purchased this lower and it definitely does not have the nubs. I had heard there were some lowers without the nubs, but thought I would double check to see if anyone knew of a reason. Any ideas?

Has anyone other than Billbond had any experience with this? I looked all over the web and could not find any pics of this. Does anyone know when Colt started doing this? Shawn, scottryan, anyone?

Thanks!

Billbond - If you get a chance, could you post a picture of yours?

I still have to understand why they mill the tabs off

I just got off of the phone with Colt and the serial number checks out fine, BUT they are telling me the nubs should be on there. I am wondering if I should try to call back and get someone else to talk with? Does anyone know how familiar customer service reps are with small changes to their rifles.

I would not believe much a phone CS rep from colt told me about something so tiny on a colt rifle

My 6940 doesnt have the "nubs 'my guesss is, since its their new  flagship, cream of the crop rifle,  the guys that do it where told to  make it look smoother.   If you notice usually the finish ( god I cant believe I am about to say this) looks a lot niceeer and cleaner n a 6940.  They are really proud of that model

So as it turns out it has to do with the forging width. The majority of the lowers come out with bumps, but sometimes if it's a forging on the big end of the tolerance, it'll come out looking like they are machined completely off.

So it's legit and normal, oh and looks dead sexy which everyone knows is the most important part!
