So I have been hearing that Colt will be releasing a 6941 that is essentially the same as the 6940 but has a fixed FSB.  Does anyone know if this is worth waiting for or is it just speculation at this point?  I'm holding off on buying a 6940 cause I really do like the standard FSB, but I only want to wait if the 6941 is actually going to become reality.

Anyone have any further info on these?

Thanks!

If Colt produces a 6941 with 11.5" barrel then it will likely be my first factory SBR.  I am sick of filing Form 1's anyway

Cheers

sorry guys  due to work I could make the call yet.  I didnt have the time for the normal 45 minute wait, when they transfer  you to the head PR guy. I will try again monday

some new info, the 6940 brrels extension is a new improved design, so swapping barrels  with your own  will be difficult

the 6941 and the other barrel lengths are going to happen but  the release of these  is unknown.  so get ready for a wait.  I personally lust for a 6940 with a standard FSB

So it's a proprietary barrel extension?  That will kinda stink until Colt starts getting 6940 barrel assemblies out on the market.

Thanks for the info Shawn!

yup. its not standard,

but it IS BETTER, it makes the gun more accurate, with the  FF MRP.     dont get trapped in the idea things have to always be the old standard, otherwise  nothing would ever improve

The moment that I spot a 6940 for sale with a fixed FSB (from the factory of course), I'm purchasing it.

Is it possible to change the fsb without removing the barrel? Seems like you should be able to tap out the pins and slide the factory one off, and pick up a 25.00 or whatever they cost fixed gasblock sight and slide it on and pin it? Just wondering if anyones tried it yet.

I'm sure you are right.  Problem is, I wouldn't feel good about ANYONE doing it except Colt, John Noveske, ADCO, or maybe specialized armament or something.

Hell, 99% of what makes a colt a colt is the assembly, IMO.

Plus, I'd hate to do this and then find out in two months that I could have just waited and had a factory original Colt.

Damnit.  What a dillemma.

A 6940 with a 14.5 inch barrel is what I'm waiting for.  If I find that upper I'm buying it.  I'm assuming this will go on a 6933 lower with no problems right?
