I called Colt today (800-962-COLT) to confirm a S/N as preban. After a lot of the negative stuff I've read here, I was very pleasantly surprised. The total wait on hold was 6 minutes. The advertising on hold also included a very strong encouragement to join NRA. When I spoke to "Cindy", she had the answer (July 1994) for me in less than a minute and apologized for not having it quicker! She also offered the written confirmation for $25.00. I don't know if this is something new, but the last time someone here mentioned a price I think it was $50.00. I obviously don't know if this has carried over to repair and other services, but this was, all and all, a very positive experience. |
| Calling Colt to verify a rifle's pre-ban status has always been a pleasant experience for me. They even sent me a free owner's manual for one of them. It's my understanding that they can take a little longer than what we may deem necessary to handle firearms returned for service, but every story I have heard has had a happy ending with the customer quite pleased with the end results. Thanks to Colt's typical initial build quality, I have yet to need to return a firearm for service. They seem to last forever. |
| Called 800-962-COLT. Asked the Br#$%^d on the phone if I could talk to someone about changing a barrel out on my SPORTER. She said that was "service". I asked her to switch me to "service" She replied she could not. I asked her what the number was to service. She replied they did not have a number. I asked her how I might contact"service". She said I could not. She is a dumb BR#$%^&*(D and COLT SERVICE SUCK$. |
