The ATF Statistics for 2005 are in and are revealing. Colt Defense - ............... 2,210 Bushmaster .................. 61,575 Bushmaster Carbons....... 4,357 Rock River .................... 12,817 Armalite........................ 7,594 LMT .............................. 144 Sabre Defense ............... 1,502 Leitner-Wise ...................16 No wonder why the LE rifles have been so scarce Obvious what Colt Defense has devoted their production lines to. I doubt the 2006 totals would be much different. |

Pardon, But what do these numbers mean? ATF stats = WHAT??? In other words, 2,210 Colt rifles were sold to WHOM in 2005??? Are you saying this means Colt ONLY produced 2,210 rifles in 05?? I can't be right about this am I? LMT = only 144 and LWRC = only 16??? That's really confusing???? |

Razor the BATFE publishes the statistics of gun sales every year. These numbers reflect the number of firearms (in this case rifles. The pistol and shotgun production totals are listed separately in the report. Click on the link in the original post to read them) Yes, Colt produced 2,210 rifles in 2005. They sold them to distributors who sold them to dealers who sold them to LE agencies, gun shops, and individuals. The military production of Colt is not included in those totals, nor is any other maker's military production included. The point of the thread was to illustrate how much each manufacturers has been producing. The Colt numbers are very low, which is consistent with their relative scarcity. The statistics lag behind quite a bit. These figures for 2005 were published in January 2007. |
That is priceless, EL.  Seriously though, the numbers are hard to figure. I saw that Colt Defense sold only 4,100 LE6920's in 2004 (pg 62) I would have imagined 10x that number, and you are right....... many of those were photograhed and posted here! |
