Have you seen this posting? What do you make of it? Specifically, the model number and year of production indicated in the ad. www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=7&f=21&t=327599&page=1-1 |
Well, it's not a Government Carbine and it's not a '73 It's a 1983 SP1 one of the very rare Colt production Rifles out there, I've seen the Nickel plated Rifles before but have never seen a Carbine in the Nickel finish, did'nt even know they made it in a Carbine Nice Carbine, |
The description is of something that does not exist,as in there is no such thing. I thought the picture was of the Carbine for sale? I added the pictured one to the SP1 data base. |
you sure? It looked like the second poster hosted his sale pix Hell, how many nickel-plated AR15's are there? carbines no less? It is a bit 'iffy' since it seems to have had a grip change, and maybe even a handguard change (aren't those M4's) At that money, I'd need a lot more assurance of what was what. |

It's up in the air at the moment. The system folks have locked the original thread pending some answers from the seller. The model number and date of manufacture stated by the seller don't correspond with the photos posted. At this point, I have no idea what is actually for sale. The R6520 Gov't Carbine didn't begin production until 1988. The model depicted in the photos is a SP-1 Carbine (R6001). The handguards do look like M-4 type. Hard to say what is original and what is aftermarket. The finish might be aftermarket too for all we know. |
