Just received my colt lower today (from a reputable company in OH) and noticed it had some discrepancies when compared to my other colt and various brand lowers.  Is this the new normal from colt?

That did not come from the factory like that (specifically talking about the castle nut).

I would agree with this.  Looks like someone messed with/removed the castle nut, end plate, receiver extension for some reason.

I aside from that. What about the forgings and anodizing?

Colt does not remove the forging lines.  They haven't since maybe the first couple of models way back in the early 60's.

And minor blends in the finish is usual as well.  Colt sells a tool, not a boutique safe queen.  And that is their attitude about it.   Comes from filling .gov contacts,  US .mil and leo agencies, for decades rather than focusing on civilian sales.

Also there is a ton of play (forward/backward and side to side) between the buffer tube and my LMT gen 1 sopmod.....
