Creation of a REAL SPR (Page 2 of 2)

I live in Chillicothe and hunt near Athens and logan as well as around here alot(not with rifles though that might land me in jail...lol). I would really like a good look at all that is needed to build a true SPR. I am new to building AR's but have used M-16's in the military years ago. I just am in lust with the SPR and I dont have a clue why..lol. Thank you sir for the comeback , I knew I was right... Also I have a buddie that needs a barrel threaded and would rather hand deliver it as opposed to paying for shipping. Would that be possible? any reply would be great. Thanks, Buc. |

You'll be the happiest kid on the block when you get it and wait till you shoot it. I've had a ADCO MOD 1 upper for about two months now and could not be happier!. Just today I shot a 5 round 3/4" group at 100 yrds with 'cheap' Federal AE 55gr., I was shocked.. Granted it took me 3 trips to the range getting the feel for it. Looking forward to shooting it with 77gr. Black Hills to see if I can beat it. THANK YOU ADCO!!.. |
| Awesome thread and I thank you as well for it! I will be receiving my first Noveske SPR this Friday! I can't wait. I started off building my own, but I couldn't get the same forend that Noveske used, he put his own twist on the SWS one, so I ordered one from Noveske. I figured he can build them better than me so why not support him and buy his. |

You mention the collar is fitted against a step in the barrel. What is the dimension of the barrel where the collar fits (step), when compared to the rest of the barrel dimensions? Thanks. Great pictures by the way. I like that old lathe in the background.

| Nope, just means thats the one he actually pulled out of the pile and checked the headspace with. By "matched" it usually just means, " I did it with this one" The bolts are about 99.8% interchangeable if made to spec. The spec is not +/- its 0.00-0.001 so even on a bad day it will be dead on headspace, but most chambers are -0.001 from dead on, so absolute worse case, .02% of the time you end up with barely .002 Not a big deal at all. The only time you may need to specifically chamber to a specific bolt is if you have a bolt that has been coated, as you can have a 0.00 bolt with .001-.002 coating. usually the Chromed bolts will get you, and then usually on a match type chamber that was done, not much risk on a mass produced 5.56 barrel. |
