I am wondering what the barrel accuracy compared to a Spikes upper would be with your new dedicated 22 upper that is offered.  Does the upper require any tweaking to make it work reliable?  Does it run on Federal Bulk pack ammo?

Thanks.

This one by the way CMMG Upper

We will get some results posted on accuracy in the near future. So faf, accuracy has been on par with any comparable kit on the market.  These are simple plug and play units.  Just like on the drop ins, we don't recommend and mods be made to the unit.

I would be interested in this data as well.  I am currently building my M4 and want to ensure I can teach my kids with the .22 as I learned as a boy.

I was was wondering on the mod part because I have heard the Spikes kits often need tuneing to get them to run reliable.   I know the CMMG uppers I have shot in the past are by far more accurate than I am.    I am leaning heavly to the CMMG upper since I have the CMMG conversion kit and it has been rock solid for me.  Do you make the barrels or are they provided by a third party?

Are they in stock and how fast do they get shipped out once the order is placed?

Thanks.

We have them in stock and ready to roll.  If you order today, it should ship today or tomorrow.

order placed,   16297,  Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.   Hope to give a range report soon.   Off to hunt for more 22 shells,  Bulk pack federal the ammo of choice for these?

Yes, the bulk packs work terrific! That is our ammo of choice.

Do you guys email out the tracking number when it is shipped?    Most of the time I end up picking up UPS at their hub since I can never be home when they show up.

The tracking number generally shows up later in the evening.

Still true as of Monday 03/30/2009? I too would like to place an order if they are still readily available, thanks for your time.

Any chance of getting a 10.5" version?

We may if demand is high enough.  No immediate plans though.

I will have some testing examples and targets posted for the .22 here within a week.  We well be testing for accuracy and durability. We plan on putting thousands of rounds FA through one .

I am very impressed.  I ordered the upper on Thursday and Monday the brown truck dropped it off today.    I put 2 mags through it today but was not able to do any accuracy testing do to the strong wind.   Zero malfunctions ran perfectly and I rapid fired most of them.   The upper is very light and balanced very well on a bare bones setup.   The barrel is thin profile under the forearm and there was a little bit of recoil felt on the shoulder,  enough to let you know it fired.   I get the feeling that many rounds will be going down this pipe.

Just a couple of pictures,   At least I kept my feet out of the pic.

It is kinda a mutt AR,  Rock River lower, DPMS LPK, Bushmaster carry handle and a 4 position stock with no buffer or spring.  Very light.

I did have to put some pressure to get the BCG out of the upper,   I get the feeling it is just new gun tight or is this normal?
3/30/2009 6:53:49 PM EDT
[#14]
It should have slight resistance when you pull it out.  Typically a couple sharp tugs on the charging handle will break it loose.  This is normal.  Happy shooting!

Does this upper require any tweaking (like the Spike's does) to get it to run reliably?

The one I got ran perfectly right out of the box.   I have had one stove pipe and one dud rimfire shell in 200 rounds through it.  Most of it being rapid fire.   Have used Black dog mags and a CMMG mag with no problem.  I have used Federal Bulk pack ammo for all of its shooting.  It cleaned up with a nylon brush and some gun scrubber,  wiped it down with a oiled rag and a couple of drops on the guide rails and it was good to go.

Any updates? Could you be more specific as to the accuracy you're getting with your uppers?

We are currently out of stock.  Have you FFL contact RSR.  They may still have them available. We are doing another run soon.  Didn't think we would go through this first batch as fast as we did.

We had run 2500 rounds through the upper in Full Auto this weekend and the thing ran like a top. Everybody loves it. Once the upper loosened up a little it has been flawless and puts a smile on everybody's face.   Going to clean it up and do some slow fire bench shooting to check the accuracy now that it  has had ALOT of rounds through it.

We will post pics in a few days..
