Might be something to consider.  I didn't think about it till reading this thread.

In my struggles with the USPS, it's been more of a problem of ineptitude than outright theft, but you never know...

I agree with OP, at least during the panic.

It's the same reason I don't put NRA or Larue stickers all over my vehicles:

As much as I want to get people's attention to the assault on our rights, I don't want anything that makes my vehicle stand out as a target for a break-in.

Nothing screams "I HAVE A GUN IN HERE, PLEASE STEAL IT" like a pro-2A decal...

I kinda like Larue's tape.  It's not too gaudy and doesn't really say much to those who don't know.

The sterilized packages are almost worse.  Abbreviated company name and minimal info is almost just as obvious that it's its something expensive you don't want to draw attention to, or your gas powered ass pumper 2000 arrived.

pretty much sums it up

+1 - maintaining OPSEC is vital since lists are being made.

I have plastic plants in front of my (double) door just so UPS and the Post Office can put any packages behind them so they will be out of sight. Get home last Friday and there is a $1300+ package from sitting out in the open with LaRue tape all over it..... Not Good!!!! Stealth tape would be fine with me, unless of course you are going to provide a Romulan cloaking device with each package...

Hope he finds it. Working in ecommerce, I know Visa gets very mad when a customer does not get what they paid for. I have seen customers charge back their cards in cases like this and the merchant ends up eating it cause they didn't use a track-able shipping method that required a signature

The town I live in has no mail carriers since it's extremely low population so anyone who expects mail in this town needs to get a PO box. That being said, I still don't trust the USPS to get anything right. I've heard horror stories of people having giant tax return checks put into the PO box of the person above theirs and it just sits there and sits there until they get their mail (it's very rural so people don't come to town unless they need to and sometimes only get their mail once a week or every two weeks) which can throw a bone into the mix if you're expecting and relying on money.

UPS is still shit up here too (left my plate carrier and plates just sitting in between my front door and my storm door at my apartment complex). Fedex is the only one I trust to do the right thing. I just have everything brought to my work now (Sheriff's Office) to avoid me going on a rampage.

Been doing the same since 2003. When I drive by another car rocking all their cool guy stickers, I think, "Am I smarter than him or do I just have smaller balls?". In the end I always decide it's becuase I don't have an infinite supply of cash to repair or replace stuff...that and I tell myself I'm in stealth mode which makes me feel better becuase anything "stealth" is cool.

I'm an avid NFL fan and can't even put my team's logo on my car without worrying about some rival fan keying it. One of the many drawbacks to living in the city.

Our society at it's best.

Well I don't have a bunch of stickers on my pick-up, but I do have a Gunsite plate frame. Most people wouldn't know what it is.

I get the nerves on the logo'ed tape.  I haven't had any trouble so far with it though.  Perhaps I'm being Capt. Obvious here, but I thought the tape was like an authenticity seal, as in:  "if this seal is broken, your package may contain Chinese knockoffs or may be missing items."

I got a small box taped up with Knight's tape last year, can't throw it away because the tape is too cool lol.  So it holds gun junk.

I have a box at my local UPS Store.  ALL deliveries go there and they even send me an email to tell me.  My deliveries don't sit on my porch.  Once in a while I might not make it over there to pick up before they close.  But I know it will still be there the next day.  I don't think they know what LaRue is so the tape is irrelevant.

IIRC a year or two ago Mark mentioned it was a good suggestion and in the works. Maybe if the tape said "Austin Precision Products" instead??? Still the same company but most people dont know that.

That still says something valuable is in it... How about "Used toilet paper samples'?

Meh, box at the door says I got something via USPS, UPS, FedEx.  What's on the packing tape really doesn't mean much of anything.  If they are going to take the time to see what the lable on the packing tape says, they could just as easily see who the sender is on the shipping label.

I do feel for those living in the big cities. There is definitely more opportunity for pkgs disappearing. Fortunately I live in a small town and all of my neighbors are home daily. We all look out for each other.

I just had a vision of special glasses to view the Larue logo tape. That way you know to get excited as you walk to the front door...
