so i recently acquired a stripped A2 upper receiver for free. the guy i got it from did not know the manufacturer. the only markings on the receiver are a "C" and a "M". located on the right side of the carry handle near the sight. in this configuration: C M (ETA: the "M" is below and off to the right of the "C". just won't let me do it in the post.) also, the hole for the pivot pin is slightly larger on the upper receiver, than it is on my Stag lower receiver. is that a major problem? any help is greatly appreciated. thanx. |
 Photo from BiggerHammer.net Yes, you have a Colt A2 upper with a large pivot pin hole. The letter "C" is for Colt and the letter "M" is for Martin Marietta which was the source of the raw upper forging. I have a M16A2 upper half with the same forge markings except mine have the small 0.250" DIA pivot pin hole. |

Most guys just use an adapter pivot pin (large hole upper to small hole lower). There are two adapter pivot pin types available, large hole upper and small hole upper. A lot of members here had good luck with the small hole upper pivot pin adapter from CDNN, you could ask them if they have the large hole upper adapter pivot pin model available. I was lucky with my Colt M16A2 small pivot pin upper, it just mounts on my Colt MT6601 Match Target HBAR small pivot pin lower without using an adapter. |
