Over the wonderful years of owning the best AR mounts, I have had a lingering question that no one has been able to answer.

You guys have mentioned to never remove the nut on a lever mount.  I am just curious as to what would happen to the locking mechanism if someone was to do it.  I am not going to find out with my mounts, so I am wondering if someone ever has done it and the consequences of doing said procedure.

I believe someone once said that there is a spring type mechanism in there... I think the spring is similiar to a delta ring spring. I'm thinking it's probably just a pain in the arse to reassemble.

You would find the algorithm that LT uses to determine how much free stuff one should get with his/her order.  Armed with this knowledge you could become the official leader of all Trolls worldwide.  You then could sound the Troll squeal heard near & far mobilizing all of them so they can form little Troll Armies, coordinate a coup & eventually bring down Da Man, one free Dillo at a time!!!!  Not that they really want the free stuff, but just because they can.

j/k, couldn't resist...

I knew a guy who removed the nut.

Two days later, dead.

What will happen? Nothing. You'll have a spring, cup, lever, and nut sitting next to your mount. The spring inside is a crest to crest wave spring.

You put them all back together and it works just dandy.

I remember in a Navy diesel engine class, we were told not to remove the covers on the accumulators on the Woodward governors, as they were installed using a special tool. Sad to say one sailor wasn't listening. He ended up with the coolest looking "U'" shaped scare on his forehead I've ever seen. Lube it up & it will be just fine, no reason to disassemble. If you think it's borked, Mr LaRue will fix it for you.
