Im looking at buying the Explorr utility and my main concern is flash suppression (I hunt a lot with nods). Do you have any night time stills or video showing the flash suppression capabilities of this can?


I know the m4sd has great flash suppression, however my attachments are for the hub system already hence why I am looking at the explorr.

The Explorr has pretty impressive flash suppression despite its more simplistic end cap. We have flash test photos at the beginning of this video at the 0:47 mark. You can see there is a small jet of fire on the first round, and zero flash on the subsequent two rounds. The next frame in the video is flash testing of our HRT-556 where you can see that a more complex flash hider end cap does a better job of suppressing flash on the first round, but is near identical for follow-up shots.

Both my 556 cans are explorr's-one for a 11.5 and one for a 12.5. They do very, very well for flash suppression. In terms of cans of similar length only a few do better. I'd use with confidence

Recce 5K has excellent flash suppression. Mine is a prototype and the production version does even better.

It is definitely easier to focus on just sound, but we had system flash suppressors standard on many cans in 2012 already (when Seal team 6 was running m42Ks without flash suppression systems integrated), and thats where hype can market a lot of cans as better that totally fail to provide any mechanism of flash reduction, and hype is often misleading.

Weight, length, diameter, flash and sound reduction, poi shift, backpressure, cyclic increase, and durability all matter.  A good product should try to balance them all.
