Yeah, the TAN is the Flat Dark Earth (FDE)

Yeah the tan is no where nere FDE see pic (top pic shows the difference better) below note the difference between the FUG and grips/stock/rail covers:

I didn't like the "tan" either. I painted mine with Brownells Allumahyde in "coyote" to
make it match my FDE stuff closer. It turned out pretty good, but a true FDE F.U.G.
would be nicer........
