Any feedback on how it shoots?  Been running 118lr and it shoots really good, don't know how the Federal compares.

168gr federal is dead nutts accurate for me.  My 16n OBR absolutely loves it!

My 18" likes both the 168gr and 175gr. Don't think I have heard of an OBR that didn't shoot it well. I buy it when ever I come across it at a decent price.

What does "well" mean?  My OBR consistenly shoots the 168 FMMM 3/4" at 100, that is ok but it opens up too much at 500+.

It shoots great but my OBR has "issues" cycling most 175gr rounds.

What issues?

I am having some issues with my brand new OBR.  Took it out this past weekend and it wasn't working with 168gr FGMM.

Short stroking issues. My OBR is extremely accurate but a bit of a picky eater for 100% reliability.

I am having the exact same issues.  I called Larue and they are sending me a new BCG.  Hopefully it will solve the issue.

I shot around 70rds of 168gr FGMM and couldn't shoot more than 3-5 shots before the bolt failed to pick up a new round from the mag.  It is frustrating spending so much money on a rifle and it not working properly.  I also had 3-4 jams where the bullet got lodged between the bolt and feed ramp during those initial 70rds.  This was with both the factory Larue mags and brand new Pmags.

It is accurate, but I wouldn't use it past 600 or so.  The bullet has poor transonic flight characteristics.

What barrel length? Sounds exactly like the problems I have. I have simply resorted to finding a few rounds it feeds well, and I had the intentions of doing a lot more testing to get a statistically significant sample group before I contacted large again, but I have been short on money the last few months. I can definitely relate to your initial disappointment.

Oddly enough, the 168 FGMM is one of the rounds that my OBR feeds quite regularly.

I have ran probably around 250 round 168 and 175 plus another 300 rounds of the federal 147. Haven't had a single issue except when I forgot to put the gas selector back to unsupressed.

Try a lighter recoil spring or a lighter buffer.... I had that issue on a 6.8 and removing the hydraulic buffer and installing a standard buffer took care of the issue. The short stroking only happened on that rifle with "New" magazines, I had no problems with my older magazines, just the newer ones with stiffer springs.

Also consider using the 118LR or 147gr NATO, it might be a little higher pressure than the FGMM. That little bit of extra pressure might be enough to eliminate your short stroking/feeding issue until you get the rifle broken in....

I don't want to hijack this thread anymore, but I've BTDT with regards to buffers and ammo types. If you want to know more PM me or I can bump my old thread.
