I have a FN TPS that I want to upgrade some parts.
Being on a budget I can't go totally nuts, but on the list is:
MIAD/MOE
Enhanced Trigger Guard
CTR

Does anyone know if the Trigger Guard will work on the TPS?

Also does anyone know if I need the Mil-Spec or Commercial CTR?

Thanks!

The trigger guard will work on the TPS, but the MOE will need to be cut down. The MIAD with the smallest backstrap will work fine. Be careful when removing the trigger guard roll pin –– the "ears" are plastic and will crack if you look at them wrong. I don't know if the TPS needs a milspec or commercial CTR... I just replaced the extension with a milspec one. I may eventually drop a Mesa Tactical recoil reducing tube on there...

Pic of my TPS (yep, I removed the useless iron sights):

Hahaha, Oh boy, do I have answers for you:

Right:

My FN TPS features the following updates:
- Mesa Tactical (mil diameter) enidine tube (recoil reducing)
- Tritium AR-15 night sights (they are fully compatible)
- Moe Stock
- Surefire 936FA with P60L led

The FN TPS as ships has a commercial diameter buffer tube that is filled with solid aluminum bar.  I ditched this quickly for the enidine stock and haven't looked back.  3" magnum 00 buck is easy as pie, doesn't hurt at all.  I see no reason why a MIAD / MOE grip would not fit.  I also see no reason why an enhanced trigger guard would not work.  In fact, there is a member here who has a TPS which features an enhanced trigger guard and MIAD grip, so you are good to go.  Dang, the guy already beat me to the punch!

Hope this helps.  If you have any other questions, feel free to bother.

I still love your TPS vmpglenn, it's a thing of beauty.

Damn Those Are Nice Shottys!

Looks like I need to rethink some things!

Would Any of you gentlemen care to share your opinions on these shot guns of yours?

Thanks,,,

I'm curious about the MOE stock on the shotty. I'm going to be building one up soon and I was contemplating which stock to use. I figured the MOE/CTR would be a little more rough on the shoulder than a UBR might be. To me the UBR just feels more stout, but the plus side of using a CTR or MOE would obviously be a weight advantage. I must say, talking about this makes me want to go pick up a receiver and start this weekend, haha.

Me thinks that new stock pad would be a good fit on a shotty.    This is one of the few places I would use like a Hogue grip over a MIAD/MOE grip

I would use the new Magpul stock pad as well.

+1. That's what intend to install a CTR or MOE with that butt pad on my shotgun.

If the recoil is still a little stiff for you, you could always install an Enidine recoil kit....

Yup, the Enidine kit is well worth the money.  I don't need any more cushioning on the buttpad.  Also, the porting on the shotgun helps.

I checked again, and yes, the 'stock' buffer tube is a commercial diameter.

Sooo the stock FN TPS tube is commercial?

Now the question is CTR or MOE stock?
I'm leaning towards the CTR as this is going on a shotgun. (not to knock the MOE's durability)

Is there a preference?

I'm sure that enhanced butt pad is all I'd need in order to use the CTR or MOE. I remember turkey hunting with an ATI folding stock on my 870.....Turkey loads+no butt pad+tree on my back = one shot I'll always remember...ouch

I'm hoping to pick up an 870 reciever next month and starting a build. I'll make sure to post some shots when it's complete.

Can I used the enhanced buttpad on a MOE stock?

Yes, it will fit the MOE.

Like this one...

It's worth repeating, be careful installing the Magpul trigger guard. The mounting points are plastic on the TPS.

Buy the CTR. Unless you don't mind wobbly. The MOE will get wobbly if you use your gun. Definitely get the CTR if you get one of those Mesa Tactical Enidine extensions. (I'm using one now. This is an old pic.)

I really like the Hogue grip and forend both are nice and grippy, even wet. I had one of the Surefire forends. It made the action too heavy.

What now?  My MOE doesn't wobble, and I've put around 200 rounds of mixed 2.75" slugs, 2.75" 00 buck and 3" 00 buck downrange.

As far as I'm concerned if it moves more than an LMT SOPMOD, that's wobble.
