I have a FUG that I want to take apart How do you do it without damaging it? When I turn the screw from the top the nut inside turns. It is set down into a sleeve so I can't get a socket on it and the sleeve turns also and I see no way to hold it without damaging it. I no longer need the FUG and had an idea for something to use the mount for (if I can get it apart).

No trolls please only looking for help getting it apart

Is there a reason you want to keep the FUG intact?  Why not use a dremel to cut the plastic from around the mount if all you need is the mount?

Can't you take the removable bottom cap off of it to expose the storage space?  (this is where the LT guys put the little bottle of machine gun lube when you buy from them)  If I recall there is a screw or nut in there for the mount. But I'm not at home right now to check mine out and see for sure.

Yea that is the nut that is sitting up inside the sleeve you can't get a wrench on that nut and I can't hold the sleeve from turning. I don't want to damage it and what I wanted to try was not that big a deal I may just let it be

It is in the EE if anyone is looking for one

What if you use a small flat head screw driver to keep the nut from spinning? If you can put some pressure on it you should be able to keep the nut and sleeve from spinning.

That thought had crossed my mind but I don't want to damage it in any way so I can sell it. I am thinking there is no way without causing some (internal) cosmetic damage so looks like I will just give up on it.
