WTF, A lot of thumb sucking going on.
A warranty is a warranty, If I had the mula I would have bought one and ran it till I killed it"If I could a shoot that much", sent it in for a new one and kept my mouth shut. Thats why you buy from Larue you don't have to worry about it. |

Bottom line, to this day, the actual manufacturers, not the suppliers, still say they aren't rated for .308. Great that LaRue is willing to warranty it. That's wonderful. Still doesn't make anything that was said in that thread 'wrong' or 'dumb'. You have your supply line confused - you are calling a supplier the manufacturer and vice versa - - One bunch makes the tubes, somebody else makes the raw wires, a third group makes the fasteners ... and these folks are all suppliers to the real manufacturer, and that's the group we listen to. The guy bringing it all together, dropping into a box and shipping it with an invoice. Remember Apollo 13 ? The engine maker wanted to disclaim what NASA intended for his engine they had dropped in to their system. They decided it was theirs to do as they pleased - good thing they didn't listen to "the experts".

great read at that link.
I've always appreciated Mark as someone who has something to say and says it. I get the feeling that if he couldn't back it up 1000%, then he wouldn't say it. And that's exactly the kind of person I want to buy from, in any field. As it is, his products speak for themselves. |

ETA - mfingar and Alfred went hog hunting last night using same PVS-14. For the record, they took knives in case the the hog took 14 shots of 308 before the PVS-14 broke ... they could transition to knives if said multi-wounded hog somehow got one of 'em by the leg. Also, they noted that it is real nice to have a rifle that runs well, as unflucking malfunctions in pitch black with everybody yelling "NO WHITE LIGHT !!!" could be unnerving to those not running LaRue rifles. |

My bad Coming off the night shift. No sweat ... the lack of manufacturing acumen runs rampant in that thread. |

Well the tubes and bodies are not rated for 762x51 per the manufacturers of the components. Mark says he will warranty the tubes and bodies for recoil damage and he is putting his money where his mouth is. I dont really think its a matter of Mark putting his money where his mouth is. Mark isnt doing anything different with this topic than he has and is doing with everything that comes out of LaRue. He sells and manufactures top of the line, high quality products that he knows will do what he says they will do. He guarantees what he makes and sells because he has the confidence they are the best. In fact, if you think about it, its the exact opposite of putting his money where his mouth is. He is actually offering products and machining the best ar15 parts out there, so he doesnt have to shell out money on warranty issues/ Marks has said a lot of things throughout the years, and some people havent cared for what he has said, for me, this is one of the many reasons I buy LaRue. I dont recall Mark being wrong on too many issues, if any at all. Before something is said or posted, Mark has his ducks in a row. This topic reminds me of the stupid bolt spat that some ass hat had to bring up a year or so ago. Now we have Texas-Spec. Mark builds great products and you can trust what he says....how many times to we have to go through this bullshit before people realize that? |

I had to drag this one out of the Industry forum known as ARFcom Night Vision.

KM, didn't you kill a tube with a .308 gas gun?
For all of the analytics folks, very high sample rates will be required I sure did John. The tube was in my 760. The scope was mounted on a 16in fulton .308 with a AAC 7.62sd on it. I shot several hundred rounds threw the scope before it developed the blems. It really looked like someone threw paint all over the tube so to speak. I sent the scope back to Victor and he replaced it with a really nice L3 tube with great specs! I made note of how apparently warranties can and do work, but got the mod smack-down for bringing up such foolishness in an indust, er, uh, technical forum.
