Steve,
I have a factory rra 9mm flattop carbine that I would like to put a free float tube onto. My question is would it be the same as on my rra .223? I've built ARs in the past but haven't done anything with a 9mm AR. I have been looking at the new yhm-5000 that is round and smooth but with a top rail. Hope I stated my question and didn't rattle on to much.
Thanks

While I'm not Steve, I'm pretty sure that the upper will take any standard rail or free float tube that a factory 223 built gun will.  Hell it should be the same upper with just a shell bigger deflector....but I've been wrong before.

That's kind of what I thought but I wanted to ask to make sure or see if someone had done it. Thanks for the reply.

Same handguards for 9mm or .223...and you don't have to worry about any gas system.

That's what I really needed to know.
Thanks

you should watch the movie "The Replacement Killers"......i did and built a 9mm AR like the one he was using in the opening scenes of the movie...mine has a free float tube and i did not torque down the free float tube whe installing it so if i should ever wish to i can put the rifle between my legs and unscrew the free float forearm and take off the barrel and free float forearm.....i've done this many times and shot thousands of rounds of ammo and it has never come loose while shooting....and should you ever want to put it in a suitcase or whatever it will fit right in when taken down.......also this makes the gun a dream to clean......D I C K
