They seem to put the light in the same place pretty much for a right handed shooter. I ran a magpul vfg far forward on the MOE handguard with a semi-thumb break grip and it looks like either
would work. Advantage either way?

Both place the light & tail cap in the same position.
If you have a MOE, i recommend the SMC. If you have an M4/A2 Hand Guard, go with the TMC.
