Not really sure how this happened. This one usually just sits in the safe with about 10 other ones like it. I have a rotation of about 3-5 pmags that are used at the range. I took this one with me yesterday. Was inspecting and cleaning my stuff today and noticed this. |

Hi,
I have seen this failure in 2nd generation P-magazines several times, it's a common failure in my experience with Nylon magazines. The P-Mag will still work, but the crack will get larger with use, and the magazine fail. I personally would not use this magazine except as a range magazine and with it it obviously marked for range use only. My rifle instructor was much less charitable, (to paraphrase) he would of said destroy it to avoid the chance of getting it mixed in with good to go magazines. Best Wishes: |

Best Wishes: I agree with the instructor on smashing them. Mags are a somewhat expendable item. Obviously use them more than one time but be prepared to get rid of them as well. They don't last forever. |

Did you call or email Magpul?
Instead of starting a dupe in their industry forum is there an alternative way to get ahold of someone. Just find a post from the magpul user account. Click the email button Otherwise... http://www.magpul.com/supportcontacts.html |

I read the first post wrong then. If it was only used once I would definitely get that shit checked out like dpmmn suggested. |
| Yeah magazines are expendable but I wouldn't toss that one away just yet. Magpul may require you to send that one back for further evaluation. I wouldn't even try to reuse it even if they are still known to work, you leave yourself to a lot of risks. And it is a little disheartening to keep hearing about cracked feed lips. |

That's extremely bizarre without some sort of significant impact. Definitely interested in checking that out to examine reference mags from that lot, and of course, you get a new mag. I'm not a fanboy of anybody. What I am though, is a fanboy of shit that works, and companies that are willing to back stuff up, when/should there be a problem. Anything can break, and anything can wear out. The way that Magpul handles these deals, should be a model for many. That is why I buy their stuff. |

That, and when a PMAG breaks, it's failure mode is: "still works for another few hundred rounds or so, but I guess I should eventually replace it (for free)". Not a bad failure mode! |
