To the subject of Gov. Rick Perry ...

It's lookin' more and more like gun owners are gonna hate the next President of the United States ...

... but my friend Rick Perry got to throw a few much-needed punches at subjects that needed it.

Unless the next debate gets wiped-out by a meteor moments before Perry arrives fashionably late ...

... my beer math says he ain't gonna be our next president.

Too bad, as it'd of been one for the books.

ML

I believe he will see another opportunity in the future

This republican field as I see it currently (post Perry) is "lackluster"

A Romney/Christie ticket scares the shit out of me

He opened his mouth and said stupid things that made him an easy target.  Like many before him, he did it to himself.  I think the current crop of presidential hopefuls is a sorry lot (perhaps the worst in my lifetime), but (even though this isn't saying much) I thought Perry was the top of the heap.  I can't help but think that there is someone out there that is smart, fiscally conservative, not batshit crazy, at least somewhat qualified to be POTUS in skillset, shows decent judgement, and is somewhat careful about what comes out of his/her mouth... unfortunately, we haven't found that person yet (it sure the hell isn't any of the hopefuls this time around).

Reagan didn't make it the first time he ran for POTUS either.

If Zero wins in November, we're going to need Mr Perry in Texas.

I'll have to respectfully agree to disagree with you on this one Mark.  Don't get me wrong, I like Perry and think he would have made a good POTUS.  If he had performed as well (IMHO) in the first couple of debates as he did in the last couple of debates I think he could have made it.

Listened to his speech on the radio. Sucks because I had high hopes. Back to the standard pcking of the lessor of two evils instead of a candidate that I can fully support.

If TX still taking refuges from CA who actually like guns, freedom, and won't try to enact the same stupid laws we are trying to get away from?

Maybe he'll latch on as a VP and take the longer road.

However he gets there, it will be a good day when he's President.

It would also be one heck of a Presidential visit Range Day 2017 and I wouldn't miss it for the world.

Didn't say I could do any better (I couldn't be POTUS anyway... not born here), but that doesn't mean the faults aren't obvious.   I'm not qualified to be a doctor, but if the guy in scrubs that shows up to do my physical obviously isn't qualified I'm not bending over and dropping my drawers just because he's wearing scrubs and carrying a stethiscope.  If you don't look at the cast of rejects the GOP is putting up and wonder why we can't do better you're really not looking at them very closely.   I'd like to hope there are actually smart and well qualified conservatives out there, but who we have to choose among are not great choices for the job.

As a person, I like Rick.  He seems like a decent guy in person the couple of times I've talked with him, even if I don't agree with everything he's done as governor.  I like the fact that he likes guns and shooting.  That doesn't change the fact that he said some downright stupid things when the spotlight was on him, and the fault for that lies with nobody but Rick.  I would have liked to have given him my vote, and I dislike the current POTUS so much that I'm willing to vote for anybody else that has a chance of winning (unless they're utterly crazy or obviously unqualified).  I just foolishly hope that someday there will be a candidate that I'm actually happy to vote for.  None of the potential candidates give me any confidence that they have any ability/inclination to change things in a positive way.  I think the best we can do this time out is elect someone (not named Barack) who can at least not break anything worse than it's already broken and tread water until someone better comes along.  That's a sad thing to say.

Remember the context of who she is...She was the home wrecker to Newt's first wife so it seems like she does not like being on the other side of the cheating. Just saying her interview will be saying nothing that we do not already know.

The media said that Rick did poorly in the debates. I didn't watch the debates. Others didn't watch the debates, but listened to the media's description of Perry in the debates.

In any event, somebody turned off his voters. I was hoping to see him stay in and also see the others drop out. They didn't.

Although I remain critical of him as a presidential candidate, I'd still drink a beer with Rick.  If he got to be POTUS that'd be 2 that I actually had a real conversation with (I talked to GB2 for a while once when he was governor too... he also seemed like a decent guy).

Like usual I find myself searching for the spot on the ballet to check off  –––– NONE OF THE ABOVE

Wouldnt it be great if we had a   ––––-  None of the Above   ––-  selection and if it got a higher percentage than the cantidates they had to give us two other choices.

The truth is we need to reform the contribution process because if we made it illegal for anyone to donate more than a hundred dollars to any political cantidate and made it illegal for any corporation or foreign national to donate any money we would start seeing cantidates who did not owe their soul to some special interest group and we would have cantidates who represented the Americal public's best interest.

Romney scares me.  RomneyCare tells me all I need to know about his philosophy on what role government should play in our lives.  But I guess I'd have to vote for  him over the present bozo.  Too bad Rick stumbled coming out of the gate.

So, are you going to one of the national "move to amend" (aka "Occupy the Courts") protests tomorrow?  That is precisely the issue they are protesting about, on the anniversary of the People United v. FEC SCOTUS ruling...

FWIW, I don't think Perry plays well to the independent centrists... They are not ready for another Texan, even if that is what they need... Same could be said for Jeb Bush's chances had he run... Not ready for another Bush.  The sound bite gaffs didn't help him either

In all seriousness I am concerned because I felt he was the only candidate that was constitutionally minded and truly had the countries best interest at heart.  Also appreciated him because he understood the military and what that meant.

Lack of preparation hurt from the git go. He's come on strong lately, and if he'd came out of the gate like the last debate and improved from there, I think he'd have gotten the nod. I'm really surprised he didn't at least wait until SC's primary results.
