I'm interested in eventually getting a FF handguard and I don't need rails, and among other options I'm looking at are the RRA CAR length aluminum FFT part# AR0010AAH, and the Hogue CAR length overmolded aluminum FFT part# AR0010AHH.

I'm interested in knowing the weight of these handguards though, to know what, if any weight difference there would be compared to the standard CAR handguards, which I read somewhere weigh 8.2oz including the end cap, delta ring assembly, and standard barrel nut, all of which are replaced by the FFT type handguards.

I'm coming up with .4 pounds all the way around...both free-floats and the poly car HG with the hardware for it all way in the same.

OK thanks!

One more question though, I've read that the Hogue ones require a specially bent gas tube to fit properly, but do RRA's plain aluminum ones need this, or can they use an unmodified gas tube?

Unmodified gas tube on the "normal" free-float tube builds.
