Ive got a new PSA mid length lighter profile upper that came with the standard PSA handguards. They are not fully aligning and its bugging me. Is this normal or should I see a better fit?

I'd smack 'em a couple times and see if they fit better. It's really nothing to worry about, functionally, as the hand guards are held in place by the cap and the Delta ring. As far as cosmetics - smack them a couple times, I bet they snap together.

Once installed, the end cap and delta ring will bring the two pieces together, and the seam will be closed.

closes the seam a bit, but not completely, I guess im just being picky. The foremost end of the guards squeezes together when I grip it though

Check to make sure the heat shield in the hand guard is not pushed in too far.  It is supposed to mount in slots in the inside of the handguard.   Pushed in too far into the handguard it can cause it not to align properly.

Also, make sure the front of the handguard is correctly installed into the cap.  The cap should close the gap when the tabs are properly in the cap.

Had the same on my PSA 20" as  it bowed somewhat in the middle. PSA sent me a new one and it was a bit better but still had a small gap when on the rifle. Like others mentioned I would put on a Magpul Moe. The longer you get ie midlength and rifle I think you start to see this kind of thing as the pressure from the Delta ring spring  doesn't seem to  have enough force to close the centers. On mine I needed to stay with the glacier guards because of the throw back rifle style I was building. I ended up just living with it.

This same problem is present on my rifle, even with the handguards installed. They are not precision made, and the standard handguards should not be expected to look perfect. That is life, that is all.
