So my buddy wanted to trade me his DD rail that he purchased locally from another guy. Right off the bat, the color didn't seem quite right. It's more of a tan color than the "burnt bronze" you see on most rails. I know anodizing can vary a lot, but it seemed too different. Also, the lower rail section does not have any markings on the inside like I've seen on other DD rails. I didn't get a good photo of the threads, but the area around them doesn't have the beveled indent outlined in green in the third image on this post. Also, the threading was just silver-colored, not the pink/purplish, color of helical inserts; it might even be that there were no thread inserts, I didn't take a close enough look. I'm sure the rep here will answer, but do you also have the bolt and screws that came with the rail? The major concern for me is the apparent age of the rail being that from November 2007. That's right at the point where DD started to deliver to SOCOM and I believe they were selling to civilians sometime near the 2007/2008 timeframe. That would put this rail as one of the original rails. With that said, a lot of airsoft clones tend to use the same text patterns for their copies. While waiting for the rep to come back, you can try to look up airsoft ones for sale and see if you spot the same verbiage in the the rail's text. Also if he’s asking for any more than $300 for it I would just advise buying an authentic one from a known vendor even directly off DD website. |
