I ordered and received a LT120 from Larue and as usual blinding fast service and lots of extra goodies along with the piece of art, I mean "kit" I bought from them! Here's my question I mounted a 20moa rail on a Remington 700 and my scope with the LT120 mount. I had to raise the comb of my stock quite a bit using this mount base combo. Does Larue make a lower mount that will work with this set up? My scope is a Vortex Viper PST 6.5-20x50. Here is what it looks like

And this is what I was able to do with it today at 100yards! I'm very happy with the set up but just want to make sure I can't lower it any to be able to lower how much I have to build up the comb of my stock. Thanks for the help!

Personally for Bolt guns you want rings not a mount like you have. If you were running an AI then I would say you are good but being a stock Remington i would say get a set of LT rings for it. Your check weld will be much much beter!

I'm starting to think that rings may be the way to go.

Use either the LT123 Standard-height mount, or the LT719 Ultra-Low mount.

I'm using the same base on a 700 based custom 7mm-08 I'm having built right now.  It's a great setup.  It's not lugged, which doesn't really matter for a short action.  I'm using seekins rings with mine.

Did you have to bed yours?

I use the 719s on my R700 and a Tried Tactical stock pad.  Perfect cheek weld with my SWFA scope.

ETA above on a 20 MoA Seekins base

I use the same mount on mine but I have the AX stock.  As long as you have an adjustable cheek riser you should be fine.  You can also switch to the 719 if you don't care about a 1 piece mount vs rings.

Scope base sometimes needs to be bedded to the receiver to keep it from flexing when torqued down.  If the base flexes, your rings won't remain level and that can damage your scope

8541tactical on YouTube has a good how to video on this.  Can't remember his screen name here right off hand.
