I have a 20" OBR with nightforce NightForce 3.5-15x56 NXS.  I can either zero it indoor at 25yds or outdoor in the high humidity and wind at 50/100, whatever.  Basically, because of the weather here Id rather zero it indoor even though the range is 25yds.  Im no ballistics expert but Im pretty sure I should set it a bit high.  The question is, how high?  The longest range I have available is 600 yards, so that would be my longest shot.  Its a mil-dot recticle.

depends on bullet weight.
You'll be on paper @ 100 by sighting in @ 25.

Means if you zero at 25 you will be hitting the target at 100, just need to adjust.

With my 18" .223, bullet flight says I'll be .7" low @25 yards. I've never confirmed this but it sound's about right. Just remember that at 25yd. You will need to quadruple any MOA adjustments.

a 25 yard zero will equate to dead on at approx 227 yards

Just my .02, but 1-3/4" low at 25 yards shout put you almost dead nuts at 100

Jack O'Connor back in the day advocated sighting dead fluckin' on at 25 knowing that it took care of about 95% of all American's shooting oportunities.

For grins, I'll get one of the guys to reshoot one of the proof-group guns tomorrow.  With it sighted dead-nuts-on at 100, to then reshoot at exactly 25 and measurre exactly how low it's under (in thousandths).

I always sighted my Remington 600 .308 in 2" high at 25 yards and it always hit 2" high at 100 yards

The .488" 5-shot group is the 100 yard zero ...

The hole 2.00"  under that is 5 shots at that same target pulled back to 25 yards.

Nice shooting!  That should get the OP dang close at 100 yds., even with minor differences in scope height over bore and bullet weight.

Just for kicks and grins I loaded data into iSnipe for the Winchester .270 130 gr. powerpoint. With a 25 yd zero the cross over point is at just before 300 yds and the high point is 4.11" at 150 yds.

Is there a .pdf of that target somewhere?  So I can print one out and make copys...

A fellow Arfcomer and Multi-Larue Rifle owner had some of those while at the range the other day and really liked them... Simple concept, great for zeroing and working on groups...
