I bought a Remington 870 the other day. In the deal with the gunshop I bought a like new in the box Surefire forend for $100.
I threw a new set of batteries in it and killed them quickly. I have to say it was decently bright. But after getting used to my X300s the light looks like it shining through one of those old yellow fog lights they used to make. Anyway, I had remembered reading about the upgrade head that Kevin sold for the Surefire shotgun forend. I emailed him Sunday afternoon, expecting a reply maybe Monday at the earliest or Tuesday. To my astonishment he emailed me back shortly and answered my questions. He also told me he would be in the shop later that night getting orders ready to ship and to call him after 6pm. Later he emailed me back and said he would be running late and for me to leave him my number and he would call me. He did call me, unfortunately at the time I was unable to answer. But he did call. I ended up calling him back in a day or so and ordering the Malkoff M61 head and a Srefire blockoff plate for the forend. I recieved my order in two shipping days. My experience with him was outstanding. Will be placing an order for batteries in the next day or so. The Malkoff M61 is just crazy good. It is great indoors. Has a very warm glow. Lights up the entire room (or house) extremely well. Outside it's also great. I can light my backyard up with it. Anything inside 80 yards should be EASILY identifiable. It will be a few days till I can try it live fire, but no more than I have played with it so far, I would have already killed a set of batteries with the incandescent bulb. If you use your light much it's worth it just for the battery savings. I can't describe how much better or brighter the Malkoff head is, and I had the brightest bulb in my Surefire. It's something that has to be experienced, words or even pictures do not do it justice. I heard about the blockoff plate on another forum. When I asked Kevin about it I was surprised it being anything Surefire was only $5. I understood when I got it. It's a tiny metal plate that would cost 25 cents or less if it was for anything else. But after putting it on I love it also. $5 well spent. The pressure pad on my Surefire is way to sensetive in my opinion. The model I have does not have the kill switch that the newer ones have. With this blockoff plate I can hold it normally without the light coming on. I can easily slide my finger in front of the plate and activate the light when I want to. Needless to say I am extremely satisfied with my experience with Kevin and my purchases. If you are on the fence about getting the Malkoff, just do it. And I can't think of a better person to get it from than Kevin.
