I work for a sporting goods chain and just picked up a like new mt 6530 in box for a steal. I was busy when it came in so I didn't get a chance to dig up any info on it before pulling the trigger. It has what appears to be a regular diameter take down pin in the front with a screw on the left side. I called Colt and they told me it was made in 1995. I guess I'm just curious on the specs on the rifle. I haven't found much on it and it is away from me at the moment while I'm in NY for school. Any info on this model would be greatly appreciated. Thanks much, Ben |

You have a Klinton ban version of what was previously the Sporter Lightweight Model. The Sporters had the flash suppressor but no bayo lug. Your MT6530 is minus both. It should have a 5.56 NATO chambered, 16.1 inch barrel and a 1/7 rate of twist barrel with chrome lining. It is a lightweight barrel(similar to the current AR6520 barrel, minus the bayo lug and flash suppressor). It has a fixed carry handle, A2 type upper. Is also has the A2 fixed buttstock. The front pivot pin hole should be the small milspec size. The model would have come from the factory with a screw instead of the retained pin. Some, but not all of the models came with a pre-drilled channel and a weep hole for the installation of the retained pivot pin detent spring, detent for the retained pivot pin. If there is any interest, you could send the upper to ADCO in Ohio, and for a modest sum, could have the barrel muzzle threaded and have a flash suppressor installed. If you remove the buttstock and extension, a telescopic stock kit could be easily installed. A fairly priced milspec telestock kit could be purchased from Bravo Company USA in you own home state. The MT6530 is not a current Colt's MFG product. |

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I assumed it was similar to the 6520 (chrome lined barrel 5.56 1/7 twist marked), but wasn't sure if that was the extent to the differences. I will be sending it off to be threaded once I am in possession of it again. Thanks, ben |
