I just got back into AR's and have placed my second order with Larue in 3 weeks. I may have some issues here. Maybe a slight addiction

Sounds like you were a little lax in vetting vendors. The addiction to great customer service and well designed and machined parts were know.

Invoice?  What's that?  Every time I open a dillo-taped box I hide under a blanket in the garage and take that dang piece of paper out and stuff it in my four wheeler saddle bag.  THEN I go inside and casually say "oh hey, when did this box get here?  Huh, don't remember ordering anything"  Then I run in the basement to play with my new toys.

I normally get home before the wife so grabbing a box and getting everything put away quickly is not  a problem. This damn Pelican is "Out for delivery" and she is seated next to me. It's going to be an interesting morning

I'm going to order a 7.62 OBR to play with. This is a my patrol setup. I

On a side note, I could not fit a 750 ML bottle of Crown Royal in the 1700 which worries me....... I'm cutting with a Leatherman Super Tool, it will not be pretty but will be fine for work.

Haha, I have to be honest here, I rarely drink beer. I'm a big Scotch and Whiskey guy. This is actually the wife's beer lol. As I was setting it up she walked by and said "new case huh!?" and kept walking. I'm in the clear!!! :)

Like your style Sgt93! On a more serious note...optics up and not towards the bottom of the case. 2cents in.

I understand some of the reasoning for this, however: the foam should keep everything from moving? I would think the style scope and mount would have a lot to do with this as well (flimsy or rigid etc)?  If a case takes a hit it's like playing the lottery for which side although I am sure the odds are against carrying it and dropping if scope is down (although padded).

Again on the beer note, I really don't drink beer. I just grabbed what was in the fridge for the pic. I drink Crown often and am an overall fan of Scotch and Whiskey. They will not fit in the case LOL!

I have pretty much cut everything already and am just awaiting my Larue padded sling, more mags etc. I took went with your recommendation and flipped the foam (I cut it with serial number up for ease). It is not pretty (I used a Leatherman Super Tool) but it is not meant to be so nor do I have the patience. This is a working kit and not a display setup of a weekender. I will post pics when everything else arrives this week.

I have a new dilema! My Larue package is arriving at the house today and the wife is home sick. Ugh!!

Ok, I got my Pelican 1700 done (phone pics and sorry for the delay). I used a Leatherman to cut it up. Why, because this is a working case for Patrol and not just to sit looking good on a shelf for occasional use. The Larue Padded Sling will be mounted the majority of the time (love it BTW) but I cut a place out for it as well. When I get my 7.62 OBR and my "weekend" case setup, I will make it prettier.......maybe
