This question may have been ask before, but here it goes. Can someone explain about serial SP and LE. I know what they stand for, but my LE6920MP-R has the SP serial number and a buddy has a LE6920MP-B with a LE serial number. Mine also has the M4 and Colt Defence RM and his does not, but all functioning parts the same. I just would like some clarification. Thanks for any help.

SP is Colt's designation for "Sporter"' I think an attempt to be politically correct while serving the civilian market back when first introduced for sale. LE is "Law Enforcement"' the series having been designed for that purpose, and now probably considered a marketing advantage for all us "civilians" buying Colt products.

Some cross-over in serial numbers likely as parts stocks got used up, and in the transition from Colt's Manufacturing to Colt defense. No difference in form or function.
