Just curious what is the thought process that goes into whether a lever is locking or not on a LaRue product?

Like an LT-100 has one locking a FUG doesn't have any. Is there any chance that they can be changed to locking if they aren't with a request or is it pretty much as is?

In the early years, none of our levers had locking sleeves, and they did just fine. Now, offered on many mounts...locking levers add an extra measure of security for mission-critical hardware. Often, locking levers are "by request"...other times, they're a common-sense part of the design. They're not always needed, and some times even detrimental.

For instance; having a locking lever on a QD vertical grip is generally a bad idea...not all shooting positions work well with a VFG. Being able to rapidly remove certain accessories (like a VFG), and quickly stow them, is extremely helpful during a variety of situations and conditions.

Makes perfect sense.  However, what about mounts like the 171, which can be used for a variety of items, some of which it would be nice to have a locking lever.  Right now the mount is not machined to accept the locking throw lever.  Any chance that it will ever be an "upgrade" option?

Interesting, I'm curious to see who's using the LT-171, and for what...

Maybe it's just me but it might be the texture of the actual lock or the height but it seems to be easier to remove than the non-locking, anyone else feel the same way?

I use the 171 for my Atlas Bipod and also for a Surefire L72 base.  No need for locking levers on the bipod but it would be nice for the laser.

Does "by request" mean when someone first requests a mount to be created in general or when someone places an order for one. Also is there a chance it could be added after the fact.
