Magpul was taking preorders a few days ago but stopped for some unknown reasons.

You will just have to wait it out.

When I preordered I was told $40 for the front sight and $57 for the rear sight.  I can't wait to get them, I ordered a set in black and a set in OD green.

Correct.  $39.95 for the front and $57.95 for the rear.  They will be listed on the website when they're available and customers that 'pre-ordered' are backordered until the sights are ready to ship sometime within the next few weeks.

'Pre-order' is somewhat of a misnomer.  Consumers who managed to call in and order the MBUS will not necessarily get them any sooner than anyone else.  Credit cards will not be billed until they actually ship.

i realize this, i got on the per-order list though.  but isnt it nice to be on the list though considering i might not be on the forum the day its announced they are on the site... then im SOL, or am i missing something with the system?  as i understood it is that your retailers will get them first, then your online orders second, correct?

A picture would be great, and satisfy my MBUS obsession, for a little while. I'm using a Larue RCO mount, which I believe is the same height as the Trijicon TA51 mount.

Mounts heights should all be the same, or very close to each other.  You can see in this image that there is plenty of room for the MBUS.

Can you order the front/back sites seperate?  Found a site that was taking preorders and all their MBUS' are listed as pairs.

Yes, you will be able to order them seperately.  Magpul has assured us we could, and they have been priced seperately, not just as a pair.
