The front MBUS on my new ACR does not have a detent in it.
Is there supposed to be one?

The MBUS does not have a detent. It shout have come with a locking pin you can insert, but many people just screw it to the correct elevation and leave it.

Do yourself a favor and sell that MBUS and buy a Gen2 MBUS with the built in locking mechanism. A much better design.
