| Now, the sight can not come down all the way, because there is no well for the sight to disappear into. Buried all the way flush with the sight would be max up; in a standard front sight, the same correction would be buried down the well. It does take some thinking about. |

The rear sight even when mounted all the way back does not impede the operation of the charging handle even with stock latches.
I have no experience with the MBUS front but i will say the rear is very well made, very springy and definitely robust enough to handle a beating. There is no play in the sight and deploying it is a snap...literally. Im impressed, especially for the price. |

yes, there is a spring that goes in the front sight one you get it sighted in to keep it from moving.
as far as the position of the rear sight, i tried it further back and it was kind of tough to grab the charging handle with the sight in the "down" position which is where it will remain most of the time since I have an aimpoint. I may fiddle with it more when I get some more time/go to the range. |
| What I wonder is whether o not the plastic that the sights are made out of will expand and contract when the front end of the rifle heats up. It may be insignifigant and I don't know how thermally stable the material is, but I know that some plastics move quite a bit with temperature changes. I assume magpul thought of this, but anybody have any thoughts on this? |

I assume magpul thought of this, but anybody have any thoughts on this? unless you can hit a quarter at 100 yards i dont forsee it being a huge issue. that plastic isnt going to expand more then a few thousandths at the most, and i think you would have to be under full auto fire to generate that much heat on your handguard, which would be enough recoil to not have to even think about a litle heat expansion affecting accuaracy. just my .02 cents. |

Got my MBUS tonight.
My review is from holding them since I have no rifle yet to mount them on. Very cool sights. Very well made and seem very solid. Here's some photos I took tonight. http://g35.no-ip.com/Brad/MBUS/MBUS%20Box%20IMG_0242.jpg http://g35.no-ip.com/Brad/MBUS/MBUS%20Open%20Box%20IMG_0248.jpg http://g35.no-ip.com/Brad/MBUS/MBUS%20Closed%20IMG_0256.jpg http://g35.no-ip.com/Brad/MBUS/MBUS%20Closed%20IMG_0258.jpg http://g35.no-ip.com/Brad/MBUS/MBUS%20Open%20IMG_0252.jpg http://g35.no-ip.com/Brad/MBUS/MBUS%20Open2%20IMG_0253.jpg |

So far I really like 'em. My only complaint so far is as pointed out how much space they occupy on the rail, it forces me to push my ACOG forward a one rail position, and considering how lame the eye relief is on the ACOGs that's not a good thing.
Otherwise I love the spring up action, but damn, I tried karate chopping one up and it damn near took a chunk out of my hand. |

http://images.dawgsports.com/images/admin/Maxwell_Smart_with_shoe_phone.jpg Missed it by that much. I got my two today in the mail. They look nice for the price. My main concern is rail space. I have flattops with handguards, so rail space is at a premium (although you are supposed to keep your optics on the receiver anyway). With an Aimpoint M4s on a LaRue mount and a Hensoldt magnifier on a LaRue mount, the MBUS will not fit by a couple hundredths of an inch. That little bulge on the front side is the issue for me. Comparing it to an older sight, it takes up an extra slot compared to my ARMS #40. I might try dremelling it down a little, although I hate messing with the polymer. The other option is to move the Aimpoint up a slot so it overhangs the slip ring by a notch. The other thing I notice is that the long range sight is offset a little high in the larger, short range aperture. I was hoping it was a same plane sight. Not sure if they mentioned that or not in the catalog or any other literature. Maybe a cantilever mount? I know all about being a bit short of rail space:

I just played with one at the local gun store. It was on the S&W moe. They are very nice and i can't wait to get to order one. I also saw one today at the gunshop on a S&W. Had a MOE stock, handguard, MIAD, PMAG, and MBUS. All in FDE. Very Nice. Although I thought this one was a little pricey. To anyone that gets an MBUS that has a Millet DMS-1 mounted in a Larue mount- please let me know if it will clear. Pictures are always nice. Terry |

I'm afraid the camera's down at the moment, but it works. |

They look kinda big and wide, both front and rear. Meh, I'll stock with my Troy's. In 63 seconds, you managed to find two MBUS threads (one in the AR-15 optics area, and one in the Magpul area), and put in the exact same post. Go ahead and stick with your Troys. |
